I have been to the Windmill Cafe over 25 times and been very pleased almost everytime. The staff is friendly, and the food great. The best thing on the menu is the Greek Isle Salad with Feta. The specials (and the salads) are all great as well. My only complaint is that once I got eggshell in my scrambled eggs. I have always been seated and never seen a ‘seat yourself‘ sign, the sign usually reads ‘please wait to be seated‘. What happened in the other review posted was a flukey thing.

The food is pretty good, but it is way overpriced. If you have the dollars, then go for it.

We stopped by the Windmill Cafe on 8/9/09 @ 9 am and seated ourselves per the sign. We waited and no waitstaff showed up at our table. 10 minutes into our wait a table of 4 people showed up and sat down next to us. The waitress almost hurt herself hurring to wait on them. Three minutes later another couple came in and sat down on the otherside of us. Another waitress hurried over to wait on them, meanwhile we just sat there and finally got up and walked out. Evidently we weren‘t important enough or didn‘t know the right people. Very unsatisfactory for any service organization.

Kept very clean, and added to fairly frequently, the buffett is the way to go here. The food on other buffetts often seems like an afterthought. Here, it‘s as good as what you‘d order off a menu; that‘s pretty rare. I‘m from Ottumwa, and think Panda Garden the best Chinese restaurant in the area even though it‘s a 45 minute drive! BEST STUFF: Peanut butter chicken, stuffed mushrooms, steamed dumpling, garlic chicken.

I rated 4 out of 5 not for the food but the setting. The quality of food is always excellent in any Pizza Ranch I‘ve been to although I‘ve yet to see any soup at this particular branch. My only negative is the noise! I realize this is a popular hangout for kids and young families but it would be nice if some effort was made to create a separate area for adults who like to talk to dinner companions during the meal. Have been in other Pizza Ranches and some are downright friendly for adults - anyway the food here is good, the chicken divine and salads fresh and good. This is a bit smaller than some Pizza Ranches so that might explain the small and crowded buffet area -- still it tastes great.
